THE WHY

Food deserts are growing yet the problem remains largely unnoticed.

Food drives provide short-term relief in areas affected by food deserts, but they do not address the root causes of these conditions. Addressing food deserts requires long-term solutions, such as prioritizing local food producers, expanding access to fresh produce, and raising awareness of the economic and geographic barriers that limit food access in underserved communities.

We apply scientific and innovative solutions to fight against urban food insecurity.

Our research-supported seed inoculation and in-house soil sampling help improve the yield of community gardens across Atlanta. By prioritizing to ensure that our services are both affordable and accessible, we support the fight against food deserts, one garden at a time.

With our simple soil-sampling servicing, replicable education framework, and decentralized volunteer model, we hope to eventually fight food deserts on a nation-wide scale. Even if we service gardens one step at a time, we hope to plant roots for extraordinary change.

JUNE UPDATE: Community Engagement and Garden Initiatives

Over the past few months, our team has been hard at work deepening our roots in Atlanta, and this season, that work took us somewhere especially close to our hearts. Garden Building We're proud to have organized a volunteer workday at Nicholas House, one of Atlanta's dedicated shelters in the fight against homelessness. Our team rolled up their sleeves alongside volunteers to dig, plant, and pour genuine care into a community that deserves far more than it too often receives.

SPRING UPDATE: What has Rooted in Solutions been up to?

Over the past few months, our team has been hard at work growing our impact in the community, both literally and figuratively. Scientific Progress We successfully ran our first round of more than 200 soil tests across multiple gardens, helping local growers better understand the health and composition of their soil.
